Position Overview
Behavioral Health Interventions of Greater St. Louis is seeking an energetic, diligent, self-motivated and articulate team player to join its staff as a Billing Clerk-Practicum Student. This position offers the opportunity to participate in a broad range of program operations as part of a professional, team-oriented organization.
The Billing Clerk-Practicum Student reports directly to the Operations Manager and will primarily
be responsible for
The Billing Clerk-Practicum Student will play a supportive-on role in the organization’s day-to-day administration, working in close partnership with the organization's executive director and and the rest of the administrative team to carry out and manage the billing functions of the organization’s activities to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
The role involves direct involvement in the administrative oversight of processes at such pertains to the organization's, compliance and navigation of billing practices which includes, but is not limited to ; serving as a technical and professional resource to the organization and with executive director oversight responsibility for billing operations of the organization including but not limited to the engagement of billing compliance,and communications related to accounting and reporting, vendor payment and collections management and business administration.
The billing clerk calculate the billiable charges that the organization programs is owed by its customers. Their duties can vary significantly. He/She calculate the costs of program services via service provision documentations and prepare bills for clients, insurance companies,and other direct or indirectly parties responsible for the payment assurence of program services based on that information.
Applicants who have previous accounting/billing support experience as it regards direct-clinical care, multi-program administration, and communications experience are preferred. A solid understanding of clerical and related administrative support tasks and strategies is a requirement.
The position will begin mid-summer 2022 to assist the organization’s president/CEO with specific tasks, which include creating/updating the billing administration portion of employee manuals and handbooks, event planning,transition correspondence, publication management and special projects related to accounting and other related responsibilities. Details of responsibilites to be further defined upon hire. In 2022 and beyond, the role will be expanded as described. This position reports to the executive director.
Scope of Responsibilities
Generate credit memos
Create and send out invoices to customers
Issue customers with statements
Ensure that client files are updated with payments or credits
Highlight any discrepancies between shipping logs and invoice accounts
Keep the contact information files updated for all customers
Enter invoices into our invoicing web platform
Initiate and establish new procedures for billing tasks
Handle billing inquiries from customers
Desired Qualifications
The Billing Clerk should have the following skills and qualifications to be successful in their role:
Good organization, time management and scheduling skills.
Basic billing code experience, especially in the healthcare community
Experiencing using office management software, including word processing software and spreadsheets
diligent familiarity with billing and coding procedures
Strong communication skills
Ability to multitask
Salary and Application Information
Salary range is $42,000-$50,000 FTE, depending on qualifications and experience. Excellent benefits
include health, dental and 401(k) retirement plan. Position begins as soon as possible.
